Festival Feels with Pretty Little Thing [AD] – VickiAmaya

I would just like to say a huge thank you Pretty Little Thing for collaborating with me on this blog post!

Team, I have never been to a festival.

I’ll repeat that, never, ever. Not even a one day in a field with my friends type of thing.

However, I already have two lined up for this year so I really wanted to write about some outfit ideas and expectations for them as a complete beginner!

In my mind, festivals are loud, fun and muddy. So, to prepare for this scenario (I HATE MUD) I want to be as comfortable and free as I can possibly be. I’m a very visual dancer, I need my hands to fist pump that bass line! I envision a lot of jumping around, screaming and dad dance moves. Thus, outfit one fully encapsulates this.

I like the pink paint speck effect of this T-Shirt Dress and the belt gives it such a cool edge. I also fell in love with these Pretty Little Thing boots the MOMENT I saw them and knew they would be travelling with me to any/every festival this year! (I’ve already styled them on my Instagram as I couldn’t wait to show them off!)

I feel like this is a very Alexa Chung circa 2008 Glastonbury look and I live for how effortlessly cool it looks. Plus, it will take me around two minutes to get dressed which obviously means more time for having fun!

Whilst outfit one is great contender for a quick and easy festival vibe, I also wanted to style something a little more dressy which Pretty Little Thing have exceeded themselves with. After all, You never know when Matty Healy from The 1975 will invite you to the VIP area and offer you the world…

Pretty Little Thing VickiAmaya

This dress has ticked all of my dress requirement boxes.

Cute
Practical
Comfortable
Fitted
Not Too Short

Paired with a leather jacket (we all know how bad the English weather can be), lace up boots/wellies and a few choice accessories I feel like it is perfect for a very Glastonbury/Reading Festival vibe. I could see Fearne Cotton or Taylor Swift wearing something like this too.

I also wore it on a recent night out and loved how flirty the hemline was. It had a nice amount of swish to it which meant my Dad dance moves could be completely unleashed.

Also, which outfit will you be emulating at your next festival?

How to save money (But still have new clothes) – VickiAmaya

How the hell can you spend money but still save money?! Well my little poppet, let me share my own methods with you. This is how I save money but still have new clothes!

Make your Wishlist your ‘Thinking It Over’ list.

Impulse buys are the work of Satan himself. Have you ever purchased something because it looked so good at the time (usually 2am) but then when it turns up you just don’t know how to style it? Then, you forget to return it so you’re just stuck with it because you’re lazy? Me too, that’s why I use the wish list function on every website as a holding pen for all of my impulses.

Shop Second Hand

Depop has become my best friend for BNWT items. Every pair of shoes with exception to my Platform Vans have come from Depop and they have been almost half the price tag! If you’ve had your eye on something for a little while then give it a search. Ebay, Depop, Charity Shops and Bloggers Instagram Accounts are great places to find your must haves. Bloggers often get sent products that they just don’t have room. Keep an eye on their stories or selling accounts if you’ve seen something you love.

Shop Sale/Outlets

I mean, this one speaks for itself but if you’re shopping in between seasons then you’re bound to find some of the items from your Wish List in the sale. If you’ve ever worked in retail you will know that sales happen every three/four months. This is so that the old stock can be sold off and the new stock can be brought in.
You will also find a whole heap of bargains in outlet shopping centres, they hold the same designer goods but at a much lower rate. You can also search for online outlet stores such as www.theoutnet.com

Discount Codes and Newsletter Sign Ups

Another fairly obvious point but I have saved SO MUCH MONEY with this trick. Sites like ASOS and Nasty Gal are constantly throwing out discount codes. If you pair these with your Wish List items, you’re guaranteed to save some money on those must have pieces!
Plus, most sites will give you a 10% discount code for signing up to their newsletter.

Honey – Free To Join (NOT SPONSORED)

This one, I only know about because of Shane Dawson. It’s a free website extension that will add discount codes to your checkout. I’m always dubious about products that influencers endorse but this one is actually really good. I used it on a recent ASOS order and saved £35.00! The link below is affiliated which means if you use it to sign up, I will earn a small amount of commission but this in no way affects your purchases and I don’t have access to any of your details.

I hope this helps you stay fashionable and out of debt my lovelies.

Valentines Outfit Ideas

VickiAmaya WInky Lux

It’s fast approaching, the day of love. The day to send flowers, chocolates, fluffy teddy bears and to get that fondue a bubblin’. Cupid’s been shooting his arrows, the shops are full of heart prints and Barry White’s greatest hits is stuck on repeat. I’m going to admit something to you all. I’m not that big on Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love spending time with my boyfriend (we’re nearly four years in)! But, I can’t help but feel this celebration has been massively commercialised.

In previous years I have spent Valentine’s Day sitting in my pyjamas, watching shitty B movies and eating my body weight in junk food (the simple things haha). In fact, me and Adam and have spent a few like this too (get a guy who can do both, am I right?!)! This year, we have agreed to do the same. Well, I say agreed… in reality its because I’m working and we’re too unbothered to book a restaurant. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t put together an amazing outfit for if I were going out.

Who says romance is dead!

The Outfit

I love pairing Red with White or Red with Black, so the simplicity of this denim skirt an t-shirt combo really ticks all of my boxes. Added in a long duster coat too for these cold winter days. Pair with vans during the day and then with a simple or statement heel to elevate it into suitable night time attire. The amazing thing about all of these pieces is that they’re not too hearted and sloganed up that you don’t have re-wearability. A factor that I hold with the highest of importance when purchasing clothes for an event or occasion. Also, how cute is the little polka dot bag?! Who could resist that for £12.00!

Single?

If it is that you’re finding yourself in Singlesville: Population You, this Valentine’s Day. Why don’t you get some of your other gal pals round and have a horror movie feast and pampering session (like I used to, way back when!). Or, even better… Treat yourself to some of those Valentine’s goodies because you deserve them and no one could ever love you as much as YOU love you!

90’s Grunge Et Moi

An outfit for the 90’s grunge scene.

Hey Lovelies, how are you?

Some of you might not know this but I’m actually an oldie. I was born on the thirteenth December nineteen eighty nine, I’ll repeat that –  1989. I’m a child of the 80’s (kinda), which therefore means that I have a pretty good recollection of all things 90’s. I remember when Meredith Brooks released ‘Bitch’, The Dinosaurs was on TV, Freddos were actually 5 pence and when cassette tapes were no longer available in Virgin Megastores (yes, you heard right).

For me, grunge styling is a band t-shirt, oversized cardigans of varying colours, acid-wash baggy jeans, Doc Martens and a plethora of piercings. If you can’t picture that you can go and watch these music video’s:

The Man Who Sold The World – Nirvana
What’s Up – 4 Non Blondes
Weak – Skunk Anansie
When I Come Around – Green Day

… And if you’re still not sure go and watch an MTV show called Daria and you’ll get the idea.

As a result, as much as I did back then, I now love this style. It was so relaxed but also such a statement at a time where the world was obsessing over the glitz and glamour (much like now). The grunge scene was a true focal point of music and people coming together in unity to celebrate all the unpopularities of the world. A real, go fuck yourself to everyone that was applauded for the mundane 9-5 routine (in my opinion, anyway).

So, this outfit is inspired by all of that good stuff, the memories of my childhood. My idols, the Dolores O’Riordans, the Linda Perrys, the Sheryl Crows and the Shirley Mansons. Thank you, for giving me the best soundtrack, fashion choices and crazy hair styles a girl could ask for.
